NSW: Long Bay escapee found at Cabramatta

A 25-year-old jail escapee has been recaptured after he allegedly failed to pay for
petrol at a service station in Sydney's south west.

Police say they began searching for the driver of a Honda CRV yesterday morning after
the garage incident.

They say the driver, who they arrested in Cabramatta a short time later, turned out
to be a man who had escaped from Long Bay jail in July.

The man was refused bail and will face a number of charges, including stealing and
escaping lawful custody, in Parramatta Local Court today.
