Qld: Libs call for financial incentives to keep meatworks open
BRISBANE, Jan 13 AAP - The Queensland government should consider offering financialincentives to convince the owners of a Rockhampton meatworks to reopen, state LiberalParty leader Bob Quinn said today.
Mr Quinn said the government in the past had offered incentives worth millions to attractcompanies like Virgin Blue and should do the same if necessary to maintain existing industries.
Consolidated Meat Group (CMG) told staff at its Lakes Creek Meatworks on Friday theplant would not open for business as scheduled tomorrow after the annual Christmas shutdown.
