CheckFree entered into an agreement to buy Corillian, a deal that will bring together Corillian's online banking platform and complimentary suite of financial products and CheckFree's electronic billing and payment services. CheckFree will pay $5.15 per share, or about $245 million.
Number Two
VSoft, which sells process improvement tools to banks and other firms, agreed to certify Diebold's ImageWay ATM software for implementation with its server solution. The arrangement will allow users to use self-service image-enabled deposit features at participating Diebold ATMs.
Number Three
SunGard has made a joint marketing agreement between its ProNvest and Signix business units with Wealth Management Systems, which sells technology-based rollover services. The deal expands the professional advice and guidance services available to participants using the WMSI platform.
Number Four
Obopay, a mobile payment service firm, has acquired BillMonk, the online service that provides the means to track debts and expenses. The deal will provide people who typically reject traditional money management and payment products with a more flexible and easier way to send money via mobile phones.
Number Five
Citigroup bought Egg, the British Internet banking operation of Prudential, for $1.1 billion, nearly a year after the Web bank had been delisted at nearly double the current sale price. The Web bank lost 39 million pounds in the first six months of 2006, and was headed for similar losses at year's end.
